Elizabeth Nkuo Johnson is the director of community relations for BlueCrossBlueShield of South Carolina, responsible for managing the charitable contributions program and employee engagement initiatives. Employed with the company for 22 years, her work has helped BlueCross earn recognition locally and nationally for its philanthropy programs. She has a bachelor of arts from St. Joseph’s College in Indiana, and a Master of Arts from the School of Journalism and Mass Communications at the University of South Carolina.
She worked for the Kellogg Company in Michigan, in the nutrition marketing department before moving to South Carolina for graduate school. While pursuing her master’s degree in journalism, she worked for DHEC and the Girl Scouts of the Congaree Area.
Elizabeth is past president of the Columbia Design League; chair of the Palmetto Center for Women; and chair of the Prisma Health Midlands Foundation. She was also a recipient of The State newspaper’s 20 Under 40 award.
